Functional Testing
Functional testing is designed to inform about underlying functional imbalances. It is not about making a diagnosis.
Functional testing although a snapshot in time, may involve testing saliva, serum, blood or urine for biomarkers such as hormones, blood glucose, cholesterol, urinary metabolites, and vitamin status. In combination with Nutrigenomics testing, your symptoms, diet and lifestyle factors, these tests may help to reveal underlying functional imbalances and provide direction to making personalised recommendations to support your health. Functional tests often include a wider array of biomarkers than your GP may offer.
A variety of tests such as the Dried Urine Test for Comprehensive Hormones (DUTCH), and the Organic Acid Test (OAT) or NutrEval tests are available and can be discussed during the consultation where relevant. Example testing companies are:
Testing companies:
Swiss Labs: Biostarks, Unilabs, Labor Team, Medica, Analytica. Worldwide labs: Nordic, Genova, Regenerus.
